Evoflash has released the invitation intro for Blockparty 2010, running in, you guessed it, Flash. It’s still a very cool demo, with superb music from Coda. Just click here to watch. Feel free to comment on the invite on Pouet as well. Seven weeks to party time!
Blockparty 2010 is taking place April 15th-18th in Cleveland, OH, back with Notacon. This is the fourth of the five promised annual editions, making it, oddly enough, the longest running demoparty in North America to date. There are a few competition changes, and be sure to check out Guybrush’s workshop, “Proce55ed Synaesthesia for fun and profit”. See you there!
If you’re interested in attending the new demoparty in Massachusetts this summer, go to www.atparty-demoscene.net to register! You can register with overnight beds or without (for locals staying at home), and pre-order a tshirt and help out with a sponsor pack (details to come later). Please remember that the “hostel room” assignment on the registration site is only for the bed, and “entry ticket” must still be selected.
MindCandy Volume 3: PC Demos 2003-09 (Blu-ray + DVD) will feature audio commentary on every demo, just like volumes 1 and 2, but needs the help of some expert demo fans to make it possible. Go to http://www.mindcandydvd.com/3 to see which demos still need commentary. If you are interested (and would like a free copy for each demo commentary we use), use the contact form on the MindCandy 3 website, or email Phoenix or PM him on the demoscene.us forums. Video clips will be provided for audio syncing.
Blockparty/Notacon 2010 wants you, to speak.
News by InspiredChaos on December 18th, 2009
Blockparty is coming back for a 4th wave of North American demoparty goodness and is looking for speakers. Held as part of the Notacon technology and creativity conference in Cleveland, Blockparty has been fertile ground for a growing community of remarkably talented and passionate people. Come and share your ideas or talents with an audience that gets you, have your presentation recorded and published for posterity in the creative commons, be the coolest dude or dudette alive*. Read about it here, and tell them I.C. sent you. The deadline for proposals in January 31st.
*I really will call you “dude” or “dudette” and there’s no getting around that.
Listen to some live 8-bit today through Saturday (8pm-1am each night) thanks to indie radio station WFMU!
The site for the first edition of @party (and more to come, if we’re lucky
will be the Friendly Crossways hostel and retreat center in east-central Massachusetts. It’s a far cry from the hotels and business centers of most US conventions, with a cozy space for 40-80 visitors and all their eating, sleeping, and showering needs. Not to mention a big field outside to soak in the June weather. Here are some photos inside and out, so you can imagine how to fill it up with your hardware and creativity!

After all the 8-bit goodness that has blessed New York City and the east coast in the form of the annual Blip Festival and the monthly Pulsewave, the west coast gets their own mini chiptune tour in the form of DataBeez this November. Starting on the 7th in LA, it works its way up to San Francisco on the 12th, then Portland and finally Seattle on the 20th. There, they will be blessed with visuals from Guybrush/Northern Dragons and Blackpawn/XPLSV. They have already started work on some interesting effects in Processing. Would you like to see a sample? Here’s a Youtube clip. Musical performers will include Minusbaby, Starpause (aka K9D/Northern Dragons), Leeni, Mr. Spastic, and Crashfaster.
